Nursing is the backbone of the healthcare industry in any country. By definition, a nurse supports, cares for, and treats a health care user to achieve and maintain health and live in dignity until death.

It is no surprise then that strict checks and measures have been put in place to make sure that nursing colleges and other tertiary training institutions meet the necessary standards in Tanzania. There are numerous training programs offered by various institutions. There are different categories of nurses who specialize in hospitals or private practice, families, and communities. They must all meet different criteria and therefore undergo different training to achieve a diverse approach to medical practice. All nursing schools in Tanzania must be registered and accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and TCU (for Degree programs) after meeting specific quality standards. Nursing In Tanzania

The work of a nurse involves a lot of commitment, patience and service to humanity. The work of a nurse can sometimes be seen as a technical based carrier, most especially those who work in the intensive care unit and the surgery unit.

However, the largest group of nurses the ones who deal with patients and clients on a day to day basis. The attitude of a nurse is always focused on caring, which is the most important qualification for a nurse.

Hospitals focus majorly on caring for people and that is what makes the work of a nurse a unique one. The major work of a nurse is to take care of the recovery process of a patient once the process of curing them has been handles by a medical specialist.

Presently, the work of a nurse has developed to be a more specialized, like the role of a nurse practitioner. In general, the roles of nurses are generalist in comparison with that of a medical specialist.

A lot of times, nurses are not considered to be a hero, but they are always special in the care they give to patients.
