About Huruma Institute of Health and Allied Sciences
The Huruma Institute of Health and Allied Sciences, commonly referred to as Chuo cha afya huruma.
Huruma Insititute of health and allied sciences is non-profit faith-based health training institution.It is owned by Cogregation of sisters of our Lady of Kilimanjaro.
Huruma Insititute of health and allied sciences started as Huruma School of Nursing on 1981 by Sr. Dr.Bernadina Allespach from Swizland, in cooperation with Sr. Cecilia Mbuya who was General Superior of Congregation of sisters of Our Lady of Kilimanjaro.First intake was 1983.
The level of education was standard seven.They graduate in 1987 in number of 25 students.
Thereafter the College was allowed by Ministry of Health to conduct Nursing training in Diploma level in 1992 for those students completed form four and form six.
In 2008 Ministry of Heath changed the duration of Diploma course from four years to three years.
In 2013 the College granted full accreditation by NACTE.The Accreditation number is S/N 1997 256
Huruma Heath Institute of health and Allied Science is located at foot of the Africa’s highest mount Kilimanjaro which is in kilimanjaro Region,Rombo District lies in the northen Tanzania,Eighty (80) kilometers from moshi manicipal.The college is within Huruma Designated Discrict hospital campus
