Position Reports to:

Project Director, Zanzibar Urban Roads Rehabilitation and Improvement Project

Primary Purpose of Position:

Highway Engineer on the Zanzibar Urban Roads Rehabilitation & Improvement Project responsible for geometric design (preliminary and detailed design) of roads.

Key Responsibilities:

· Participate in the technical delivery of transport infrastructure design projects as assigned by the Project Director or Design Manager

· Geometric design of roads and ancillary infrastructure

· Contribute to the preparation and implementation of quality management plans for the project, and adhere to all Design Management guidelines as per the SMEC BMS

· Interact with other disciplines to ensure harmonious interface of all components on projects assigned

· Liaise with Project Director, Design Manager, Technical Principal and Project Manager to ensure projects run efficiently

· Mentor and train junior engineers in the spirit of knowledge transfer

· Other duties as assigned to meet the requirements of the function and company in general

· Production of all deliverables to a high-quality standard

· Production of all deliverables within the required timescales and budget

· Fruitful collaboration in/with diverse project teams

· Effective liaison with the Employer, The Engineer, The EPC Contractor (SMEC’s client) and SMEC’s wider design team

· Flexibility, adaptability and responsiveness to dynamic project environment and client requirements

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

· Degree in Civil Engineering
