About University of Dodoma (UDOM)
University of Dodoma (UDOM) – public higher education institution in Tanzania. UDOM began its work in the year 2007. The main campus of the university is located in Dodoma – the capital of Tanzania. University of Dodoma is among the best educational institutions in Tanzania, that is among the top 5 universities according to the national rankings.
The composition of the university. Being a medium scale university, University of Dodoma teaches more than 14 thousand students.
Infrastructure of UDOM. The library is available to all of the students. In addition University of Dodoma has its own sports infrastructure.
The University of Dodoma (UDOM) is located at Chimwaga area about 8 kilometers East of the Dodoma City. The University is within Dodoma District and covers an area of about 15,000 acres (6,000 hectares). The site has a very prominent view as it is situated on a hilly area.
The University of Dodoma was formally established in March 2007 following signing of the Charter by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The first academic programmes commenced in September 2007.
The University has been designed on a Campus-College mode where seven (7) semi-autonomous Colleges exist. These Colleges are:
- College of Education (COED)
- College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS)
- College of Informatics and Virtual Education (CIVE)
- College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS)
- College of Health Sciences (CHS)
- College of Earth Sciences (COES)
- College of Business Studies and Law (CNMS)
