The wait is finally over. The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has officially released the Form Two National Assessment (FTNA) Results for 2025.
If you are a student who sat for these exams in November 2025, or a parent anxiously waiting to see if your child will proceed to Form Three, this is the only guide you need. We know the anxiety that comes with this day—the site crashes, the slow internet, and the confusion about grading.
We have simplified everything. Below, you will find the Direct Link to view results, a guide on how to interpret your Division and Points, and crucial advice on choosing your subject combinations (Tahasusi) for Form Three.
Link ya Kuangalia Matokeo ya Kidato cha Pili 2025 (Direct Link)
Let’s get straight to the point. You want to see the results.
Due to the massive traffic hitting the NECTA servers right now, the main homepage might be inaccessible. We have provided the direct link to the results page which is usually lighter and faster.
CLICK HERE TO VIEW FORM TWO RESULTS 2025
(Note: If the link is slow, do not refresh rapidly. Wait 30 seconds and try again.)
⚠️ Is the Site “Refusing to Connect”?
If you are seeing “503 Service Unavailable” or “This site can’t be reached”, follow these three steps immediately:
- Switch to Opera Mini: This browser compresses data and works better on congested Tanzanian networks.
- Use the “Regional” Trick: Instead of trying to load the whole database, search for “Matokeo Kidato cha Pili [Your Region]” (e.g., Mwanza) to find direct PDF downloads often shared by regional education officers.
- Wait for “Off-Peak” Hours: The traffic is highest between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Checking after 9:00 PM or early morning (5:00 AM) guarantees a smooth experience.
How to Check Your Form Two Results (Step-by-Step)
For Form Two students, this might be the first time you are checking NECTA results personally. Follow these steps to ensure you find your name correctly.
Step 1: Access the NECTA FTNA Page
Click the link above or visit www.necta.go.tz and select “Results” then “FTNA 2025”.
Step 2: Choose Your School’s Region
The results are organized by the region where your school is located.
- Example: If you study at Kibaha Secondary, select Pwani (Coast) Region.
- Example: If you study at Ilboru, select Arusha.
Step 3: Select the District (Wilaya)
Click on the district where your school is registered. Be careful with districts that have been split (e.g., Ubungo vs. Kinondoni).
Step 4: Find Your School Name
Schools are listed alphabetically. Scroll down or use the “Find” feature on your phone to type the first few letters of your school name.
Step 5: Locate Your Index Number
Once you open the school page, look for your Candidate Number (e.g., S.1234/0055).
- Important: NECTA often withholds names for privacy or debt reasons in some private schools. If you only see numbers, you must know your specific Index Number to identify your results.
Understanding Your Results: Grades and Points
The Form Two assessment is crucial because it determines two things:
- Promotion: Whether you proceed to Form Three or repeat Form Two.
- Streaming: Whether you will join the Science stream (Physics/Chemistry) or the Arts stream.
The Grading System (Madaraja)
NECTA uses a 5-point grading scale for O-Level assessments:1
- A (75-100%): Excellent (Distinction)
- B (65-74%): Very Good (Merit)
- C (45-64%): Good (Credit)
- D (30-44%): Satisfactory (Pass)
- F (0-29%): Fail
The “Division” vs. “Points” Confusion
Unlike Form Four, Form Two results are often looked at in terms of Points and Average GPA.
To calculate your points:
- A = 1 point
- B = 2 points2
- C = 3 points3
- D = 4 points4
- F = 5 points5
The Rule: The lower your total points, the better your performance. A student with 7 Points (Straight As) is better than a student with 28 Points (Straight Ds).
What is the “Pass Mark” for 2025?
To pass the Form Two National Assessment and proceed to Form Three, a student must obtain a minimum of Grade D in at least seven subjects.
- Passed (Anaendelea): Students with Division I, II, III, or IV (Pass).
- Failed (Harudii): Students who scored Grade F in the majority of subjects (Failed). These students are usually required to repeat the class.
The “Big Decision”: Science vs. Arts Stream
This is the most critical part of Form Two results that many parents ignore. These results dictate your child’s future career path.
When students report to Form Three in January 2026, they will be separated into streams based on these results.
1. The Science Stream Criteria (PCB / PCM)
To join the Science class (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), a student typically needs:
- At least a C Grade in Mathematics.
- At least a C Grade in Physics and Chemistry.
- Reality Check: If your child scored ‘D’ or ‘F’ in Math and Physics in Form Two, forcing them into a Science class in Form Three is risky. Form Three Science is significantly harder.
2. The Arts Stream Criteria (HGL / HGE)
Students who performed better in History, Geography, Kiswahili, and English will be placed here.
- Myth Buster: Arts is not for failures. It is for students whose strength lies in languages and humanities. Many successful lawyers and diplomats come from this stream.
3. The “Commerce” Stream (ECA)
Some schools offer Bookkeeping and Commerce. Admission usually requires a good grade in Mathematics (at least a D or C).
Troubleshooting: “My Results Are Missing” or “Withheld”
Sometimes, you might see a code instead of a grade. Here is what they mean:
- W (Withheld): Results have been withheld. This usually happens if there is suspicion of exam malpractice (cheating) or administrative issues. You must contact your Headmaster immediately.
- ABS (Absent): You were registered but did not sit for the exam.
- F (Fail): This is a grade, not an error. It means the score was below 30%.
Q: Can I Repeat Form Two if I Failed?
A: Yes. The current government policy encourages mastery before progression. If a student fails FTNA, they are supposed to repeat the class to strengthen their foundation. It is better to repeat Form Two now than to get a Division 0 in Form Four.
Conclusion & Next Steps
Congratulations to everyone who passed their Form Two National Assessment 2025!
What to do now:
- Download your Results: Take a screenshot or print the page.
- Buy Form Three Books: The syllabus changes drastically. Start looking for “Physics for Secondary Schools Book 3” or the relevant Arts books immediately.
- Report to School: Form Three classes usually begin mid-January. Ensure you know which stream (Science or Arts) you have been selected for before you buy specialized textbooks.
Do you have questions about which combination to choose? Drop your grades in the comments below (e.g., “Math C, Phys D, Geo A”) and we will advise you!
