What are CUHAS entry requirements?
CUHAS Entry requirements are formal criteria you CUHAS meet in order to be considered for a degree course you’re applying to at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS).
These criteria are set by the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences, to determine whether you’re capable of meeting its objectives. This is based on relevant or similar skills, knowledge and ability you’ve demonstrated in previous qualifications, exams and assessments – see below the full list of entry requirements you might need to meet, for a given course at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS).
The following is the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences Entry requirements, every prospective student at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences is recommended to read the Entry requirements before applying for Admission to any academic programme available at CUHAS for the 2021/2022 Academic Year.

Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) general Entry Requirements for certificate and diploma Programmes
For an applicant to be eligible for admission into Health and Allied Sciences (HAS), he/she CUHAS satisfy the minimum entry requirements of four passes in non-religious subjects in Certificate of secondary education examination (CSEE). However, there are some programme requirements that are specific to certain programmes.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR PROGRAMMES.
Doctor of Medicine
Direct Applicants.
Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of D grade in Chemistry, Biology and Physics
Equivalent Applicants.
Diploma in Clinical Medicine with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.

Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences
Direct Applicants.
Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of C grade in Chemistry and D grade in Biology and at least E grade in Physics.

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level

Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging And Radiotherapy
Direct Applicants.
Three principal passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum of 6 points: A minimum of D grade in Chemistry and D grade in Biology and at least D grade in Physics.

Diploma in Medical Imaging or Radiography with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.

Three principal passes in Chemistry, Biology and either Physics or Advanced Mathematics or Nutrition with a minimum of 6 points: A minimum of C grade in Chemistry and D grade in Biology and at least E grade in Physics or Advanced Mathematics or Nutrition.
Equivalent Applicants.
Diploma in Nursing with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.

Diploma in Nursing or Advanced Diploma in Nursing Education with an average of “B’’ or a minimum GPA of 3.0. In addition, an applicant must have a minimum of “D” grade in the following subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and English at O-Level.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES.
DIPLOMA IN PHARMACEUTICAL SCIENCES (DPS)
The entry qualification for this programme shall be holders of Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) with five passes including “D” pass in Chemistry, Biology, Physics/Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics and English Language.

DIPLOMA IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCES (DMLS)
The entry qualification for this programme shall be holders of Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) with five passes including “D” pass in Chemistry, Biology, Physics/Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics and English Language

DIPLOMA IN DIAGNOSTIC RADIOGRAPHY (DDR)
The entry qualification for this programme shall be holders of Certificate of Secondary Education (CSEE) with five passes including “D” pass in Chemistry, Biology, Physics/Engineering Sciences, Basic Mathematics and English Language
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER PROGRAMMES.
A: MASTER OF MEDICINE (M.Med)
1. PROGRAM: MASTER OF MEDICINE IN INTERNAL MEDICINE, PAEDIATRICS AND CHILD HEALTH, OBSTETRICS AND GYNAECOLOGY, SURGERY AND MASTER OF MEDICINE IN ANATOMICAL PATHOLOGY.
2. DURATION: Three Years.
3. NATURE: Course work and Dissertation
4. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:
i) Holder of MD degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning.
ii) Must have scored a grade of B or higher in the specialty he/she wants to study or at least a GPA of 2.7 during undergraduate training.
iii) Must have successfully completed internship and obtained a grade of B or higher in the specialty he/she wants to study.
iv) Must have a valid license to practice as a registered medical practitioner with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT) (or accredited equivalent authority outside Tanzania approved by MCT) before their enrolment to the program.
v) Must have completed at least one year of working experience as a medical practitioner in a recognized hospital by the MCT or equivalent registering institution from the country of origin.
B: MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH (MPH)
1. PROGRAM: MASTER OF PUBLIC HEALTH
2. DURATION: One year
3. NATURE: Course work and Dissertation
4. Entry Requirements:
i) Holder of MD degree or its equivalent from a recognized higher learning institution with a pass of B grade or above in Community Medicine and at least one year of working experience
ii) Holder of B.Sc Nursing degree with a pass of B grade or above in Community Medicine and at least one year of working experience
iii) Holder of first degree in Health-related disciplines (Health Officers, Environmental Health Pharmacy or Laboratory Sciences) provided they passed with a lower second and have at least one year of working experience.
iv) Holder of Master degree in Health-related disciplines with at least one year of working experience. v) Must have at least a GPA of 2.7 during undergraduate training.
C: MASTER OF SCIENCE IN PAEDIATRIC NURSING (MSc.PN)
1. PROGRAM: MASTER OF SCIENCE IN PAEDIATRIC NURSING
2. DURATION: Two years.
3. NATURE: Course work and Dissertation
4. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:
i) Holder of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education (BScNE), or Bachelor of Science in Mental Health Nursing (BScM) or Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BScMid) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing Management from a recognized higher learning institution with a GPA of at least 2.7.
ii) Graduates mentioned in i. above should have a minimum of 2 years work experience.
iii) Must have a valid license to practice as a registered nurse and midwife from Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC) or equivalent registering institution from the country of origin which is approved by TNMC.
D: MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSTIC MOLECULAR BIOLOGY (MSc.CMDM) 1. PROGRAM: MASTER OF SCIENCE IN CLINICAL MICROBIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSTIC MOLECULAR BIOLOGY
2. DURATION: 2 years
3. NATURE: Course work and Dissertation
4. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:
i) Holders of First degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences degree or its equivalent with overall GPA not less than 2.7.
ii) Holders of first degree in Health Sciences with overall GPA not less than 2.7 or B grade for unclassified degrees provided he/she passed with at least B grade or above in Microbiology/Immunology or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or Cell Biology with at least 200hrs notional hours.
iii) Holders of Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences (Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Parasitology, Bachelor in Laboratory Sciences) with overall GPA not less than 2.7 provided he/she passed with at least B grade or above in Microbiology/Immunology or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or Cell Biology.
E: DOCTOR OF PHYILOSOPHY (PhD)
1. PROGRAM: DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY
2. DURATION: Three to five years.
3. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:
i) Holder of a relevant Master degree (MSc or M.Phil or M.Med) from a recognized higher learning institution.
ii) A holder of MD or BVM/DVM under the special MD-PhD or BVM/DVM-PhD programs as stipulated in the CUHAS Guidelines for Higher Degrees.
iii) Must demonstrate the capacity to carry out research independently and ability to pursue the study programme.
