MOCU Entry requirements are formal criteria you MOCU meet in order to be considered for a degree course you’re applying to at the Moshi Cooperative University (MOCU).
These criteria are set by the Moshi Cooperative University, to determine whether you’re capable of meeting its objectives. This is based on relevant or similar skills, knowledge and ability you’ve demonstrated in previous qualifications, exams and assessments – see below the full list of entry requirements you might need to meet, for a given course at the Moshi Cooperative University (MOCU).

MASTER OF ARTS IN CO-OPERATIVE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT (MA CCD)
This is both full time and Evening mode two year programs under the semester system. There are two semesters and Dissertation writing in the two years of study. Applicants for the program should have obtained a Bachelor Degree, Advanced Diploma and Post graduate Diploma from a reputable and recognized Higher learning institution. Applications for admissions are normally invited once a year between June and September. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN CO-OPERATIVE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (PGD CBM)
This is both full time and Evening mode one year program under the semester system. There are two semesters and Research writing in the two years of study. Applicants for the program should have obtained a Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma from a reputable and recognized Higher learning institution. Applications for admissions are normally invited once a year between June and September. BACHELOR OF ARTS IN CO-OPERATIVE MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTING (BA CMA)
This is a full time and Evening mode three years program under the semester system. There are six semesters in the three years of study. Applicants for the program should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in five approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 4.0 points in relevant subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Microfinance, Business Administration from an accredited/recognized institution of education of not less than 3.0 GPA and an ‘O’ level credit pass of at least D grade in Mathematics.

DIPLOMA IN CO-OPERATIVE MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTING (DCMA)
This is both full time and Evening mode two years program under the semester system. There are four semesters in the two years of study. Applicants for the program should have obtained a a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in five approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 1.5 points in relevant subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Certificate in Accounting, Finance, Microfinance, Business Administration from an accredited/recognized institution of education of not less than a PASS and an ‘O’ level credit pass of at least D grade in Mathematics.

CERTIFICATE IN MANAGEMENT AND ACCOUNTING (CMA)
This is both full time and Evening mode one year program under the semester system. There are two semesters in the two years of study. Applicants for the program should have obtained a a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in five approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) .Applications for admissions are normally invited once a year between June and September. MASTER OF PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY MANAGEMENT (MA-PSM)
This is a full time 2 years program under the semester system (3 semesters in the two years of study). The first 2 semesters are used for course work while the remaining semester is used for research project. The program started to be offered in 2012 and produced first graduates in 2014. The program nurtures experts in the field of procurement and supply management who are expected to be competent and ethical Procurement and Supply Professionals. Applicants should have obtained a Bachelor Degree with a grade point average of lower second and above or Equivalent Qualifications. The equivalent qualifications include CPSP, MCIPS, CPA, ACCA and other professional qualifications that will be reviewed and considered to be relevant at the time of application. Applications for admissions are normally invited once a year between July and September. Detailed information about the application procedures and requirements are always provided through the university website and other outlets approved by the Directorate of Postgraduate Studies (DRPS).
BACHELOR OF PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY MANAGEMENT (BA-PSM)
This is a full time 3 years program under the semester system (six semesters in the three years of study, thus 2 semesters for each academic year). The program started to be offered in 2005 and produced first graduates in 2008. The program nurtures experts in the field of procurement and supply management who are expected to be competent and ethical Procurement and Supply Professionals. Applicants should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in 4 approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 4.0 points in relevant subjects. Those with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Diploma from an accredited/recognized institution of education with not less than 3.0 grade point average and 4 passes in relevant subjects from CSEE examinations. Applications for admissions are normally invited once a year between June and September. BACHELOR OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND MARKETING (BA-ME)
This is a full time 3 years program under the semester system (six semesters in the three years of study, thus 2 semesters for each academic year). The program started to be offered in 2010 and produced first graduates in 2013. The program nurtures experts in the field of marketing and entrepreneurship. Applicants should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in 4 approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 4.0 points in relevant subjects. Those with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Diploma from an accredited/recognized institution of education with not less than 3.0 grade point average and 4 passes in relevant subjects from CSEE examinations. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE (PGD AF)
This programme is designed to equip the candidates with appropriate knowledge and skills to deal with complex issues in accounting and finance in the national and international competitive business environment. Graduates of this program should be able to take up accounting and finance positions in organizations. Specifically, the programme aims to:
• To equip candidates with a blended high level accounting and finance knowledge and skills so as to become professionals in their fields
• To enable candidates appreciate ethics relevant to the accounting and finance professions
• To prepare candidates to undertake further training.
Applicants to this programme should be holders of
• A relevant Bachelor degree from recognized institutions of higher learning, or
• A relevant Advanced Diploma from recognized institutions of higher learning
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN SAVINGS AND CREDIT CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES MANAGEMENT (PGD SACCOS)
This program is designed to equip practitioners in SACCOs and other MFIs with appropriate knowledge and skills to carry out managerial functions in SACCOS and other MFIs and to undertake consultancy services at the local and international competitive business environment. It also serves as a bridging programme between advanced diploma and Master Programmes. The progarmme is full time, two semester covered within one academic year. Applicants for this progarmme should be holders of:
• Advanced Diploma in Cooperative training or in Management of community based institutions, or
• First Degree in Business or Social related disciplines such as Commerce, Economics, Sociology, community development, etc.
BACHELOR OF ARTS IN MICROFINANCE AND ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT (BA MFED)
This is a full time three year undergraduate program covered in six semesters. Applicants BA-MFED should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in five approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 4.5 points in relevant subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Diploma in business-related programmes from an accredited/recognized institution of education of not less than upper second-class and an ‘O’ level credit pass of at least C grade in English.

DIPLOMA IN MICROFINANCE MANAGEMENT (DMFM)
This programme is designed to enable candidates to manage viable MFIs. It ensure that candidates are equipped with the necessary skills in initiating, establishing and sustaining viable MFIs. Emphasis are be given to essential tools for microfinance management such as savings mobilization, credit management, governance, networking and problem solving skills. Minimum entry requirements for this diploma programme are: at least two advanced level passes in Economics, Mathematics, Commerce, Accounting, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, English, and Agricultural Science with at least TWO points. Points are counted as: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S=0.5. For candidates with equivalent qualifications the minimum entry requirements for this diploma programme are: holders of Certificate in Microfinance Management, Professional Certificate in SACCOS Management, Certificate in Management and Accounting and Certificate in Accounting and Finance from MoCU or any other relevant qualification from institutions recognized by accreditation authorities or professional boards.
CERTIFICATE IN MICROFINANCE MANAGEMENT (CMF)
This is is a two semester programme designed to equip candidates with basic knowledge and skills in microfinance to handle lower level basic microfinance functions. Specific objectives are:
• To equip candidates with basic knowledge and skills in microfinance accounting and management
• Enable candidates to appreciate and apply basic principles and practices of microfinance management
Direct Admission requirements
Form IV Certificate holders with four credit passes including English and Mathematics/Bookkeeping/Commerce/Physics/ Geography/Chemistry.
Equivalent Admission qualifications
• Form IV Certificate holders with Basic Bookkeeping Certificate
• Form IV Certificate holders with NABE stage II to III
• Form IV certificate holders with Pre-foundation Certificate of profesional boards
• Or any other qualifications as shall be determined by the Senate.
ERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE (CAF)
This is is two semester programme designed to equip candidates with basic knowledge and skills in accounting and finance to handle lower level basic accounting and finance functions. Specific objectives are:
• To equip candidates with basic knowledge and skills in accounting and finance.
• Enable candidates to appreciate and apply basic principles and practices of accounting and finance.
Direct Admission requirements
• Form IV Certificate holders with four credit passes including English and Mathematics/Bookkeeping/Commerce/Physics/ Geography/Chemistry.
Equivalent Admission qualifications
• Form IV Certificate holders with Basic Bookkeeping Certificate

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (BSC BICT)
This is a full time three years program under the semester system. There are six semesters in the three years of study.
Direct Admission Requirements for BSc. BICT are: Credit Passes in Mathematics and English at O-level plus at least two principal passes at A-level in Accountancy, Economics, Mathematics, and Commerce, the sum of which should not be less than 4.5 points. Applicants with principal passes in any of the following subjects; Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography and English language may be considered provided that the sum of points in two principal passes are not less than 4.5.
Equivalent qualification for the BSc. BICT is Diploma from MoCU or from any other accredited institution of higher learning or from recognized Professional Examination Boards or a first class Certificate of Information Technology from a recognized institution.
DIPLOMA IN BUSINESS INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (DBICT)
This is a full time two years program under the semester system. There are four semesters in the two years of study.
Direct Admission Requirements for DBICT are: Form Six leavers with at least one principal pass and one subsidiary pass in any of the following subjects: Economics, Accountancy, Mathematics, Commerce, Physics, and History/Biology/Chemistry/Geography. The sum of points should not be less than 2.
Equivalent qualification is holder of a one-year or more Certificate of Information Technology of MoCU or holder of one-year or more relevant certificate qualifications from recognized academic institution/examining board provided they have FOUR passes at O-level Secondary Education.
CERTIFICATE IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (CIT)
This is a full time one-year program under the semester system. There are two semesters in the one-year of study.
Direct Admission Requirements for CIT are: holder of Form Four certificate with four passes in in Mathematics, Bookkeeping, Commerce, Physics, Geography, Chemistry, History and Biology.
Equivalent qualification are: Form IV Certificate holders with ATEC I, or with NABE stage I or II, or with Pre-foundation certificate of the National Board for Materials Management (NBMM) OR any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
MASTER OF BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (MBM)
This is a full time and evening mode eighteen (18) month program under the semester system. There are three semesters in the 18 Month of study. Applicants MBM should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in five approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 4.5 points in relevant subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE), At least a Second Class Bachelor’s degree from recognized institution of higher learning in a relevant field of study; or A Pass Class Degree with postgraduate diploma in a relevant field or Postgraduate Diploma in re-lated field of study from a recognized institution of higher learning. For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a relevant professional qualifications plus a basic degree.
Possible job titles related to HR include: Financial, manager or analyst, credit analysts, cash manager HR consultant, Executive coach, Recruitment consultant/ practitioner/ manager, Training and development practitioner/ manager, Compensation and benefits specialist, brand manager, sales managers, marketing managers, operation and logistic manager.

This is a full time three years program under the semester system. There are six semesters in the three years of study. Applicants BA-HRM should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in five approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 4.5 points in relevant subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Diploma in Human Resource Management, or any other diploma from an accredited/recognized institution of education of not less than upper second-class and an ‘O’ level credit pass of at least C grade in English, Kiswahili, History and Geography.

Applicants DEMA should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in four approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least One Principal level passes and a total of at least 3 points in relevant subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Certificate in Human Resource Management, or any other Certificate from an accredited/recognized institution of education provided they, have four passes at “O” level Secondary Education in English, Kiswahili, History and Geography.

This is a full time and evening mode one year program under the semester system. There are two semesters in the one year of study. Applicants CHRM should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in four approved subjects such as English, Kiswahili, History and Geography.
BACHELOR OF LAWS (LL.B)
This is a full time three years program under the semester system. There are six semesters in the three years of study. Applicants LL.B should have obtained a Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) or equivalent with passes in five approved subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) or equivalent; and at least two Principal level passes and a total of at least 4.5 points in relevant subjects in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE). For those to be admitted with Equivalent Qualifications, it should be at least a Diploma in Law from an accredited/recognized institution of education of not less than upper second-class and an ‘O’ level credit pass of at least C grade in English.

Moshi Cooperative University (MOCU) general Entry Requirements for certificate and diploma Programmes
For an applicant to be eligible for admission into certificate and diploma Programmes, he/she MOCU satisfy the minimum entry requirements of four passes in non-religious subjects in Certificate of secondary education examination (CSEE). However, there are some programme requirements that are specific to certain programmes.
