What are ITA entry requirements?
ITA Entry requirements are formal criteria you ITA meet in order to be considered for a degree course you’re applying to at the Institute of Tax Administration (ITA).
These criteria are set by the Institute of Tax Administration, to determine whether you’re capable of meeting its objectives. This is based on relevant or similar skills, knowledge and ability you’ve demonstrated in previous qualifications, exams and assessments – see below the full list of entry requirements you might need to meet, for a given course at the Institute of Tax Administration (ITA).
The following is the Institute of Tax Administration Entry requirements, every prospective student at the Institute of Tax Administration is recommended to read the Entry requirements before applying for Admission to any academic programme available at ITA for the 2021/2022 Academic Year.
Minimum Entry Qualifications
1. East African Customs Clearing and Freight Forwarding Practising Certificate (CFFPC)
Two (2) passes at “O” Level from non-religious subjects.
2. Basic Technician Certificate in Customs and Tax Management
At least four (4) passes at grade D in Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) in business related subjects;
OR
A GPA of not less than One (1) in CSEE results; provided the applicant has a pass in Mathematics and English or NVA level 3
OR
Successful completion of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) in business related subjects.
3. Ordinary Diploma in Customs and Tax Management (DCTM)
Successful completion of Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) in business related or natural science subjects with at least one principal and one subsidiary pass. Applicants should have four passes at O Level, two of which must be mathematics and English.
OR
Successful completion of ITA Basic Technician Certificate in Customs and Tax Management (CCTM); or successful completion of business related subjects or law related courses in NTA level 4 with average GPA of at least 3.0 or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution. Candidates should have four passes at O Level, two of which must be mathematics and English.
4. Bachelor of Customs and Tax Management (BCTM)
Satisfactory completion of A level in business related or natural science subjects and obtained at least 4.0 points in two subjects in ACSEE results. Applicants must have four passes at O level two of which must be Mathematics and English.
OR
Successfully completion of ITA Diploma in Customs and Tax Management (DCTM); or successfully completion of NTA level 6 in business related subjects, natural science subjects or ICT provided that an applicant has an average GPA of 3.0; or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution. Applicants must have four passes at O level two of which must be Mathematics and English.
5. Postgraduate Diploma in Customs and Taxation (PGDCT)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
6. EAC Postgraduate Certificate in Customs Administration (PGCCA)
A Bachelor degree or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
7. EAC Postgraduate Diploma in Customs Administration (PGDCA)
A Bachelor degree and successful completion of PGCCA.
8. Graduate Trainee Program (GTP)
A Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
9. Master of Arts in Revenue Law and Administration (MARLA)
Second Class, Lower Division Bachelor Degree in taxation, accounting, economics, law or any business related equivalent qualification from a recognised institute.

At least four passes in non-religious subjects (“D‟s and above) at O‟ Level or NVA Level III with less than four O‟ Level passes or equivalent foreign qualifications as established by either NECTA or VETA; AND |
i) At least a GPA of 3.0 for Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6); OR | |
ii) Average of “C” for Full Technician Certificate (FTC) (where A=5, B=4, C=3, and D=2 points); OR | |
iii) Average of “B‟ Grade for Diploma in Teacher Education; OR | |
iv) Average of” B+‟ Grade for Health-related awards such as Clinical Medicine and others; OR | |
v) A Distinction for unclassified Diplomas and certificates; OR | |
vi) Upper Second Class for classified non-NTA Diplomas. | |
Foundation
Programme of the OUT |
A GPA of 3.0 accumulated from six core subjects and at least a C grade from three subjects in a respective cluster (Arts, Science and Business Studies) PLUS
An Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination with at least 1.5 from two subjects OR An Ordinary Diploma from the recognized institution with a GPA of at least 2.0 OR NTA level 5 /Professional Technician Level II Certificate. |

Phd programme (all

A Master Degree (UQF level 9) in relevant discipline/area or equivalent with a minimum of GPA of 3.0 or B grade. |
Institute of Tax Administration (ITA) general Entry Requirements for certificate and diploma Programmes
For an applicant to be eligible for admission into certificate and diploma Programmes, he/she ITA satisfy the minimum entry requirements of four passes in non-religious subjects in Certificate of secondary education examination (CSEE). However, there are some programme requirements that are specific to certain programmes.
