You’ve just sat your CSEE exams, and now the excitement is leading to a new chapter in the Pwani region. Pwani, or the Coast Region, has a reputation. It hosts some of the most respected A-Level schools in Tanzania. It sits right next to Dar es Salaam. For many of you, that means a chance to continue your studies without feeling too far from home.

You’re probably asking: “Are the 2026 TAMISEMI Pwani selections out yet?” As of today, they are not. The national and regional Form Five selection lists usually drop around May or June. That is when TAMISEMI publishes them on the official Selform portal

If you’re reading this now, you still have time to get ready. Keep an eye out for updates, because once that list is live, you’ll want to act fast. I’ll walk you through everything step by step.

The Selform MIS Update Window

The Ministry opened a one-month window for Form Four graduates to update their subject combination or school preferences in the Selform Student Selection MIS system. That window closes on May 10, 2026.

You need to use that time to make sure your choices match your actual results. Maybe you scored higher in sciences and want a PCB or PCM combination. Or maybe an arts combination suits you better now. Log in to selform.tamisemi.go.tz and adjust your preferences before the deadline.

If you miss this, you may be locked into choices that don’t match your strengths. That could affect whether you get placed in the school you wanted. So treat this as a priority.

Elite Government A‑Level Schools in Pwani Region

This region has schools with strong reputations. They consistently attract top-performing students. You should know about them if you’re aiming high.

  • Kibaha Boys Secondary School is one of the country’s most prestigious “special” schools for A‑Level science. It has produced doctors, engineers, and leaders. Getting PCB or PCM there is fierce competition.
  • Minaki Secondary School in Kisarawe is another heavyweight. It’s famous for strong academic results and for producing students who go on to top universities.
  • Bagamoyo Secondary School has history and a strong academic tradition too. It offers balanced options in arts and sciences, and many Pwani students aim for it.

These schools fill up quickly. So when the selection list comes out, check fast to see if you’ve made it. If you have, that’s a big win. If not, don’t lose hope. I’ll guide you through next steps.

How to View the Form Five Selection List for Pwani Region

Once TAMISEMI releases the list, here is how you make sure you find your name, your school, and your district:

  • Step 1: Visit selform.tamisemi.go.tz.
  • Step 2: As soon as you see the “First Selection 2026/2027” dashboard, click it. That’s where the live list appears.
  • Step 3: Don’t search by your index number yet. Instead, click “Search by Region” and select Pwani.
  • Step 4: You’ll see a list of districts or councils: Kibaha TC, Kisarawe, Bagamoyo, Mkuranga, Rufiji, Mafia. Click the one where your school is located.
  • Step 5: Then click the school. That opens a PDF with the list of selected students. Download it and save it right away.

That method works for every region, but it is especially helpful in Pwani because the list spans several councils. If you ever miss your name on one PDF, check another council in case of placement there.

You’re Posted to Pwani! Essential Travel & Survival Logistics

Okay, you’ve made it. You’re going to Pwani. Here is what to do next:

  • First, download the Joining Instructions from the portal immediately. Save multiple copies. That document tells you when to report, what to bring, and any fees you need.
  • Now, off to the real-world logistics. Pwani sits next to Dar es Salaam, but boarding school rules are strict. You can’t just go home on weekends. Once you report, expect to stay at school during term time.
  • Travel is straightforward. From Dar, most students get to places like Kibaha, Kisarawe, or Mkuranga via local dala‑dalas or short inter‑city buses that leave from the Magufuli Bus Terminal in Mbezi. That terminal connects Dar to the coast region nicely.

Keep the climate in mind. Pwani is hot and humid. Bring light school uniforms, extra pairs of socks, maybe some talcum powder or sweat‑absorbing gear. A small fan or hand‑held battery fan can help too. Staying dry and comfortable will make your first weeks easier.

Alternative Pathways If You Missed the Pwani Selection

If you don’t make the first list, don’t panic. TAMISEMI offers a second selection phase before August. Keep checking the Selform portal.

You can also consider top private schools in Pwani. Marian Boys or Girls and Baobab are notable names. They charge fees, but they often have strong performance records and support.

Another option is to look into NACTE‑accredited diploma or certificate programmes. These can be a good route if you want a technical or vocational path.

Either way, talk with parents or guardians, weigh your options, and stay proactive. Your academic future is still wide open.

You’re on the verge of starting A‑Level education. If you adjust your Selform preferences before May 10, 2026, you give yourself the best shot at landing in a school that fits your interests and results. When the list drops in May or June 2026, use the portal steps above to locate your placement.

If you get placed in Pwani, know how to travel, what to pack, and how boarding rules work—even though it’s close to home. If not, the second selection, private schools, or diploma paths are still valid and valuable.

You’re not alone in this. Keep checking the portal, stay ready, and reach out to mentors or peers when you need help. You’re stepping into a new phase. You’ve got this.
