Faculty of Accounting and Informatics

The Faculty of Accounting and Informatics is a diverse, dynamic faculty made up of departments in Information Technology and Accounting. These departments are: Auditing and Taxation, Finance and Information Management (PMB), Financial Accounting, Information and Corporate Management, Information Technology and Management Accounting.

The faculty has departments on the Ritson, ML Sultan and Riverside campuses. The programs offered by the departments are also varied. They include; Internal Auditing, Taxation, Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Office Management and Technology, Library and Information Studies, Financial Information Systems and Information Technology.

In addition, the Department of Information Technology services other departments within the faculty and other departments in the other faculties within the University.

DUT Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment

The Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment is the technical and engineering side of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) and focuses on producing graduates who can apply scientific principles to everyday problems.

The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment (FEBE) has more than 6 000 students enrolled across the departments of Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Survey, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying, Electrical Power Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Town and Regional Planning, Architectural Technology and Mechanical Engineering.

The faculty offers a range of undergraduate degrees, as well as postgraduate degrees in Architecture, Building Engineering and Management, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Management, Industrial Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Water and Waste Engineering.

DUT Faculty of Health Sciences

The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at Durban University of Technology (DUT) is the home of all health-related study programmes. The Faculty offers a wide range of specialised degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and prides itself on being a multi-racial and culturally diverse environment for learning. With an employment of 81 dedicated full-time academic staff, of which, 56% are in possession of a doctoral degree, the faculty is without a doubt, equipped to prepare our student community for various science-related career opportunities.

The faculty is continually improving the curriculum in conjunction with students, industry, and other stakeholders. This is undertaken to ensure that students receive an education that is relevant, career focused and achieves a balance between theory and practice. The Faculty has on offer 30 new qualifications ranging from Higher Certificates; Diplomas; Bachelor’s Degrees; Honours Degrees, Master’s and PhDs. Our qualifications are rigorously vetted and strengthened by our partnerships with Council on Higher Education, Department of Higher Education and Training, South African Qualifications Authority, as well as, other committees of DUT.

Faculty of Management Sciences

The Faculty of Management offers programmes in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Operations, Quality Management, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurial Studies, and Governmental Studies.

 Faculty of Applied Sciences

The Faculty of Science focuses on research, as well as producing graduates who are ready to apply their knowledge directly to the world.

The faculty comprises 10 academic departments with locally and globally relevant programmes. The Faculty offers a wide range of specialised degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and prides itself on being a multi-racial and culturally diverse environment for learning.

The Faculty has on offer 30 new qualifications ranging from Higher Certificates; Diplomas; Bachelor’s Degrees; Honours Degrees, Master’s and PhDs.

There is a wide range of undergraduate degrees, as well as postgraduate degrees in Applied Ecology and Environmental Management, Applied Fisheries Science, Applied Geology, Applied Plant Science, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Studies, Food and Nutritional Sciences, Human Biology, Marine Biology, Mathematics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Physics, and Zoology.
