About Sedibeng TVET College
Sedibeng TVET College is a public college under Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). The college was formed in April 2002 as a result of the merger between Lekoa (now Sebokeng), Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark Technical Colleges. The college has since established a satellite campus in Heidelberg in 2007.
Sedibeng TVET College is among the eight colleges situated in Gauteng Province. The college is situated in the South of Johannesburg in the Sedibeng District municipality hence the Sedibeng which is a Sotho name meaning the ‘well’.
The Sedibeng TVET College offer the ministerial funded and approved programmes namely Nated Report 191 Business and Engineering Studies and National Certificate Vocational (NC (V)) Business and Engineering studies. Furthermore the college offer occupational programmes which are accredited by various Sector for Education and Training Authority (SETAs).
Sedibeng TVET College is rated among the best performing public colleges in Gauteng and has been consistence throughout the years. The partnership with Business and Industry has enabled the college to place students for internships, learnerships and apprenticeship through sponsors from various SETA’s. The partnership with various SETAs resulted in all trade workshops being accredited and has produced qualified artisans who passed their trade tests.
The college has grown rapidly over the years with student numbers and to date has 11000 students in 2016. The majority of the students are from the Sedibeng District municipally however the college has students from all over South Africa. The college depends on the DHET bursary scheme which is administered by National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) for funding students’ fees for needy and academically deserving students.
