About Mopani South East TVET College
Mopani South East TVET College is an accredited registered public post-school institution operating under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training in terms of the Continuing Education Act, Act No.16 of 2006, as amended.
The college is situated in Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality under the jurisdiction of Mopani District Municipality in Limpopo Province.
Mopani SE TVET College operates within diverse communities and has two campuses; Sir Val Duncan in Namakgale and Phalaborwa Campus which has a Satelite Campus, Mošate Hotel School both located in Phalaborwa Town.
The college offers programmes in Engineering and Business training which relates directly to the South Africa’s developmental needs for skilled people in Engineering, Financial and Management fields, while also addressing the need for skilled artisans, IT Technicians, professionals in tourism and hospitality industries and Finance.
We also offer a variety of skills and learnership programmes in partnership with Government SETA’S. In this way, the college aims to fill economic demands of the community.
The college was recognised the best college in South Africa by the Minister for Extra Ordinary Involvement in Artisan Development and Sustained and Meaningful Partnerships with Industry & SETA’s.
The college is ISO 9001:2015 accredited and also accredited by several Sector Education and Training Authorities to offer education and training.
Mopani South East TVET College History
Mopani South East TVET College was established in 2003, when Phalaborwa Technical, Sir Val Duncan Technical and Mapulaneng Technical merged as part of the National transformation process that transformed Higher Education landscape in South Africa.
These technical colleges then became campuses offering a variety of programmes in Business and Engineering Studies.
The name came as a result of the geographical positioning of the institution “Mopani” represented the District, “South” represented Mapulaneng Campus which was on the South of Mopani District Municipality and “East” represented Sir Val Duncan and Phalaborwa which were both on the Eastern side of the District.
In 2006, the College de-merged with Mapulaneng Campus located in Bushbuckridge due to demarcation and Bushbuckridge was transferred to Mpumalanga Province.
The college now has two campuses and a Satelite Campus namely; Sir Val Duncan Campus, Phalaborwa Campus and Mošate Hotel School. Sir Val Duncan campus offers Engineering programmes, Phalaborwa Campus offers Business Studies whilst Mošate Hotel School School offers occupational programmes.
The institution is accredited and is a registered public institution operating under the auspices of Department of Higher Education and Training.
